Procedures For Parents
Pick-up procedures - Teachers keep a posted list of how children get home. A written note must be sent in folder if changes are to be made. Please prompt children that morning on the importance of turning the note into the teacher. If plans change during the day, call the office at 414-2090. They will get the message to your child’s teacher.
Children will walk to the sidewalk with their class and sit down. Parents should come to us and make eye contact with teacher before taking their child. Teachers will walk your child to your car if you choose to drive through the pick-up line.
Birthday treats - All birthday treats will be eaten after lunch. Please contact your child’s teacher ahead of time to schedule a time.
Lunch money - Send in an envelope marked with child’s name, teacher name, PIN number, and dollar amount. It must be cash.
Track - Kids should wear tennis shoes daily. Recess every day includes WOW, running the track, and free play.
Discipline Procedures
We would like to inform you of the first grade discipline procedures that are essential to develop and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and free of disruption. We expect our students to exhibit a high degree of self-discipline and to contribute to a climate that maximizes the learning process.
The rules in first grade are:
Raise your hand to talk.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
Sit in your chair properly.
Walk in the building.
We will use positive reinforcement such as verbal praise, smiles, hugs, special privileges, and stickers to reward good behavior. At the same time, there will be consequences for those students who do not follow the rules. They will include:
Warning
Redirect behavior
Conference with child
Time out
Notify parents by phone
Conference with parents
Counselor
Administrative intervention
First grade teachers will strive to help each student become more responsible and more independent. A step in that direction is to have students enter their classrooms each morning without the accompaniment of a parent. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
We want first grade to be a fun-filled learning experience that proves to be a solid foundation for your child’s future education.
